 Having joined Abbott Solicitors in May 2022 as a member of the Immigration, Family and Welfare Law Team, Shuhela has developed a strong background in these areas of law, which she uses to assist clients with contentious matters and the other litigation areas that the team specialise in. Shuhela currently works with a committed and dedicated team of solicitors, trainees and caseworkers. Shuhela has also been the company’s deputy practice manager since December 2022.

Working alongside the solicitors in the team, Shuhela strives to provide a client-focused service with the view of providing the best solution for them.

Shuhela completed the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in Moortgate. She previously graduated from the University of Law with a First-Class Honours degree in Law. Alongside her studies, Shuhela done a variety of pro bono law clinic work.

Shuhela works with legal aid and privately funded clients on a wide range of immigration, asylum and human rights matters, including settlement applications, family reunion and humanitarian protection. She is also experienced in assisting extremely vulnerable clients, including victims of human trafficking, violence, modern slavery and those fleeing conflict and persecution.

Shuhela also represent clients in several areas of social security law, regarding welfare benefits appeals, at the First-tier and Upper Tier Tribunal. She mainly specialise in medical related benefit cases regarding Universal Credit limited capability for work, employment and support allowance appeals, personal independence payments and attendance allowance appeals (also claim forms).

Shuhela has experience in child and young adult appeals and claims for disability living allowance and also over 65 years of claims and appeals for attendance allowance.

Shuhela has experience in dealing with a variety of Childcare matters involving issues such as domestic abuse, substance misuse and mental health issues. Shuhela has also assisted on cases concerning non-molestation and occupational orders. Shuhela is passionate and committed to providing extensive support to vulnerable clients with learning difficulties / mental health difficulties/victims of domestic abuse through a very stressful and frightening time of their lives.
